Introducing Full Sun Compost!

Grand opening

Albuquerque, we have exciting news… our compost facility is OPEN!

Eighteen months ago, we faced an ultimatum: either find a way to build a compost facility from scratch or close down for good. Now, after lots of hard work, as well as invaluable support from our community, we’re proud to announce that our compost facility is finally open!

Our new home is located at 403 Haines Ave NW in Wells Park. On January 31st we were joined by 60 community members, investors, and family for an official ribbon-cutting and to start our first-ever compost pile (photos below). We’re already selling wood mulch and will have finished compost for sale in March. If the microbes cooperate, we’ll have our very own finished compost ready for sale by May 2026, and we’ll add vermicompost and other soil amendments to our offerings in the months that follow.

A lot is still in flux — over the next two weeks we’ll be moving our collections services and office to the new site, including our kitties, and setting up a temporary drop-off area for our dropoff members — but we’re finally composting at our own yard and we couldn’t be happier!

Since you are a drop-off member, please note that our drop-off area is relocating at the end of February. Please keep an eye on your email for more updates in the coming weeks!

Also: We changed our name!

With the launch of our new compost facility, we’re now Full Sun Compost! Don’t worry, we’re still the same scrappy little crew you know and love, and our residential service will still be known as Little Green Bucket. But with our work growing way beyond 4 gallon buckets, our brand needed an update to reflect our new direction.

Over the next month you’ll notice us updating our email signatures, our website, and our social media accounts. You can still reach our support team anytime at support@littlegreenbucket.com.

Yard Waste Dropoffs

We now provide free yard waste dropoff for all Albuquerque area residents! Please bring your yard waste to our new facility at 403 Haines Ave NW – enter thru the gates on 5th street past the metal Quonset hut.

Our current yard waste drop-off hours are 8am-noon, Monday thru Friday, or by appointment. We accept leaves, grass clippings, small branches (under 2″ diameter), and weeds. Absolutely NO pet waste! If you’re using plastic bags, you must take the bags home with you.

Yard waste drop-offs are open to everyone, not just members. All yard waste will be shredded and added to our compost piles.

As always, thank you for your unwavering support.
