Compost doesn’t hibernate ??A winter update

Happy New Year, Albuquerque!

The world outside may be hibernating, but here at Little Green Bucket we’ve been very busy. Over the past few months we’ve been working nonstop on our new location – gutting walls, digging up sewer lines, and pulling so, so many weeds. While getting a new compost facility up and running is no small feat, we’ve also managed to set up a few surprises for you! ? Read on to see what we’ve been up to – and to get a sneak peak at the new compost yard!

Christmas Trees

For the first time ever, we’re composting Christmas trees! This has been a long-term goal of ours and we’re so happy to finally make it happen. We encourage all Albuquerque area residents to drop off their live Christmas trees & wreaths outside our downtown headquarters. We’ll transport your trees to our new location, where they will be chipped and added to future compost piles. Just like our pumpkin bin, the Christmas tree
recycling station is open to all, so please tell your friends!

Zero Waste Bag

Food scraps aren’t the only waste stream we care about, so we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve teamed up with TerraCycle to bring you Zero Waste Bags. They’re a new, super-easy way to recycle hard-to-recycle items like: plastic bags, wires & cords, wine corks, even styrofoam! All items we collect will be sent back to TerraCycle, where they’ll be fully recycled back into useful material. Check out our website for more info, including acceptable waste and how to order.

And finally: A sneak peek at our new facility!

Thank you.

We’ve had a very bumpy few years at Little Green Bucket, and we’re so grateful for the endless support we’ve received from our members and the wider community. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We’re looking forward to brighter days in 2026.
