Surprise! Due to popular demand, our annual Pumpkin Recycling event started early! ? ? ?
Every November we offer free recycling of pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, and winter squash to our beloved Albuquerque community. This year we opened it a few days later to help accommodate all the folks whose pumpkins got yucky earlier than usual due to the wild September monsoon and the warm October that followed.
What happens to the pumpkins we collect? We rehome or reuse as many of the fresh ones as we can, and compost everything else.
The bins are located at 403 Haines Ave NW, away from the building near the corner of 5th & Haines. They’ll be out there until the end of November.
Please remove candles, wax, and any other non-compostable decorations. Painted pumpkins are NOT allowed. We also cannot accept other food waste at the pumpkin station.
